Fairmount College to induct three into Hall of Fame

Gary Bender, Mona Nemer and Lee Pelton exemplify the merits and advantages of a liberal arts and sciences education and will be inducted into the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame at 2 p.m, Feb. 6, 2024 in Wiedemann Hall. Induction into the Fairmount College Hall of Fame is the highest recognition of outstanding alumni who have had a significant impact on the region, nation and world. The event is open to the public.

Gary Bender

1962, Bachelor of Arts, Speech

Bender spent more than 40 years in sportscasting, covering college sports, the NFL, MLB and NBA, capping his career as the voice of the Phoenix Suns.

Mona Nemer

1977, Bachelor of Science, Chemistry

Nemer serves as Canada's chief science advisor. She is known for her pioneering research focusing on heart development and function in relation to heart failure and diseases.

M. Lee Pelton

1974, Bachelor of Arts, English and Psychology

Pelton is the president and CEO of the Boston Foundation. He has positioned the organization as an agent for social change by centering equity in its programs, grantmaking and civic leadership.
